The standard of medical education in India is declining and the major reason for this is the responses by the governments who think by allowing the private sector to build more medical colleges would actually help the medical condition betterment in country; they are on wrong note completely. This increase in institutes is just a tactic – actually thee are money houses for giving the degree with inducing proper knowledge and accurate skills in students so that could become a healthy part of sector. Research, innovation and technical skills are things that are miles ways from the majority of medical institutes in India.
There are 579 medical institutes that are producing doctors – however, the quality of passing out doctor is a question as medical council of India is completely failed in this regard to define a mechanism to check the capability of passing out doctors.
One would be wonder to know that in these 579 medical institutes, half don’t have single research paper in their credit in last 10 years. You can also judge that only 25 medical institutes contribute for half research work.
The record of the Indian government and court history shows that one in every six in the country’s 398 medical schools has a record of cheating.
Samiran Nundy, a Delhi based gastrointestinal surgeon talked with telegraph and said that these findings show the suspicion against medical colleges and medical education in India has become a business.
In an investigation report by Reuters, it is observed that in the rules, it is necessary that teaching hospital must have enough patients, for which the colleges hire healthy people to pretend, they are sick, to pass the examination checks.
It is also revealed that same doctor who are not been the part of colleges are posed as full time faculty to pass the inspections.
In the government record, many such colleges and teaching hospitals can be found that did not fulfill the regulation and also rigged the entrance test for giving admissions. Many colleges have been accused to take bribe in the name of “donation” for giving the admission of the children that score very low marks. Dr. Anand Rai who exposed a massive cheating in the state of Madhya Pradesh said that the next generation of doctor is being taught the cheating and deceiving even before the entrance in the class room.
You can judge the complexity of the situation that Dr. Rai received death threats on exposing the cheating scandals and police has to give him protection. This is the complete failure of Indian government and health department to ensure the proper medical education in India.
